WELCOME / BIENVENUE / BIENVENIDO
Nepean's Language Department provides students with a diverse offering of courses from grade 9 through grade 12 in both French and Spanish. Along with improving their skills in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Language competitions, cultural activities and events and be immersed in all aspects of the language and culture they are studying.
Our Spanish students are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a bi-annual exchange with students from our sister school in Galicia Spain.
FRENCH:
DELF Diplôme d’études en langue française
All Grade 12 students (Core and Immersion) are invited to challenge the DELF exam. This opportunity, offered by the OCDSB, allows students to gain a better insight into their French proficiency across the four competencies : Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The French Ministry of National Education also awards successful candidates an internationally recognized diploma.
The exam is written in November for Semester 1 students and in April for Semester 2 students.
SPANISH:
DELE
Grade 12 students may challenge the DELE exam (written at the University of Ottawa's DELE testing centre).S Similar to the French DELF exam, the DELE exam allows students to have a better insight into their Spanish proficiency across the four competencies : Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
The exam is written in May.
