Ottawa-Carleton District School Board

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario, and the seventh largest board by school population in Ontario.  OCDSB serves students within a 2,760 square kilometre area and welcomes 77,000 students.

OCDSB students are based out of 146 schools – 114 elementary including two special education sites, 25 secondary including the Adult High School, 2 virtual schools, and 5 secondary alternate sites.

The OCDSB website has a wealth of information and resources to help the journey through high school. You may wish to take the time to explore the many pages on the OCDSB website, but we highlight some below:

The OCDSB Speaker Series

The OCDSB Speaker Series offers free information sessions to the parent community and seeks to disseminate leading ideas in education with the goal to better support student learning and well-being.

Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils

The Nepean School Council is a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils (OCASC).  OCASC is an umbrella organisation for school councils and parents in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) to share information and facilitate communication within their communities to enhance the education of all its students.

OCASC works through the following:
- Sharing information between school councils
- Facilitating communication : OCASC has representatives on various OCDSB committees who share information about current board activities to the membership, and also provide input from the membership to the OCDSB committees
- Representing its membership: OCASC communicates with OCDSB staff and trustees directly and through its representatives on various committees.
 

Nepean School Council has a designated member of Council who attends OCASC meetings and brings information back to Nepean.  OCASC meetings are open to the public.

Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)
