What is new for this schedule:


Friday Check-ins:
On a 5-day week, we will be providing an additional and optional opportunity for students and teachers to connect, should teachers and students wish to do so. On this day, teachers may schedule additional check-ins, meet-ups, and/or post additional clarifying learning material, as long as it is included in the 3 hours of course work per week
Guiding Principles for this schedule:

  • This is an asynchronous learning model which encourages students to learn when they can, where they can
  • Students should receive no more than 3 hours of work per week for each course in their timetable
  • Each class has a main contact “class” time with their teacher one day per week
    The posting of new course work happens on this day and it may look like: a Google Meet for direct instruction or to check in with students; clarifying instructions around assigned work; assigning course work for the week; posting of  new content in the learning platform they are using (e.g. Google classroom, D2L, Virtual Learning Environment, teacher websites)
  • Teachers will continue to provide extra help on days other than their scheduled class day as needed
  • Our focus will be on the teaching of enduring understandings and the overall expectations of courses
  • Teachers will continue to implement accommodations for students with IEPs or English language needs

Technology Access:

At this time, we are hopeful that we have successfully distributed technology to all students who are in need of receiving it.  We have another opportunity to arrange to distribute technology on Monday, April 20, 2020. If your child is in need of this additional support, please reach out to us at nepeanhs@ocdsb.ca by 10 am on Monday, April 20.
