Each year, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board Student Recognition Awards celebrate excellence in student leadership. Students are chosen by their principals and vice-principals for their demonstration of initiative, supported by the will to succeed, the dedication to finish what they started, and the commitment to achieve their personal best.

By always working to create a supportive school climate, modeling positive behaviour, and constantly adapting and growing amidst changing situations, Ella D. never misses an opportunity to enhance the Nepean High School learning community. She has demonstrated leadership as committee chair of the Nepean High School Relay for Life, as Student Council Co-President, and as the school’s United Way Breakfast Chair, garnering respect from her peers through her hard work, dedication, and organization. She enthusiastically encourages others to achieve their full potential in academics and athletics, and her love for learning is undeniable. She is a member of multiple sport teams and is a coach within the school and community. Ella is very cognizant of others, ensuring that everyone is treated equally. She has demonstrated this winning attitude as a leader amongst her peers at Nepean High School, always delivering an inspiring message about the importance of leadership and community involvement!
