Online periodical databasesYou can find newspaper, magazine and journal articles through the Gale and EBSCO databases.Online encyclopediasReference information in English is available at Grolier. For any subject relating to science, mathematics, technology, health or environmental sciences, try the Access Science online science encyclopedia … For all Canadian topics, in English et en français, make sure you consult the Canadian Encyclopedia.Ottawa Public Library’s databasesThrough the Ottawa Public Library, you have access to over fifty databases, including Electric Library, the Biography Resource Centreand the Literary Resource Centre. Please access these databases from home rather than from school. Once you reach the main menu, choose “find articles and research guides”, and then select which database you want to search. You will be asked for your Ottawa Public Library card number (if you don’t have one, go get one now from any OPL branch) and a password (which is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).Carleton University’s databasesThe library of Carleton University has even more databases. To use them, you must be a Grade 12 student, and you must have a Carleton University library card (available through Mr. Turner or through the OPL). In most cases, you will need to be at the Carleton library. |
